About Thailand
Thailand is a vibrant country in the heart of Southeast Asia. It features a rich variety of landscapes—from tropical beaches and islands in the south, to forested hills in the north, and fertile central plains around its capital, Bangkok (source: Britannica). With a history of an independent kingdom (formerly known as Siam) that avoided being colonised by Western powers, Thailand now functions as a constitutional monarchy and is a key player in regional trade and culture.
The country is well known for its warm hospitality, deep Buddhist traditions (with over 90% of the population identifying as Buddhist), and thriving tourism industry—drawing visitors for its temples, food, islands, and cultural festivals. Economically, Thailand has transformed from an agricultural society into an industrialised and export-oriented nation (source: World Bank).
Vision
During this short-term opportunity, you’ll get to attend a local church retreat and lead a fun, VBS-style program for kids and youth—helping them grow in their faith and learn to seek God’s kingdom above all else.
Our Sent Ones serve on a Creative Team that produces media resources for cross-cultural workers throughout Asia. In their day-to-day life, they love engaging in discipleship and children’s ministry through their local church. Their team also reaches college students through evangelism, English clubs, and game nights at nearby universities, which the team will also be able to participate in. The people they serve are primarily Buddhist, coming from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. The city they call home is a vibrant melting pot of people, flavors, and opportunities to proclaim the name of Jesus!
This trip is a Level 201 and great for those are capable of international travel and willing to go deeper in a cross-cultural experience. This trip is offered for adults who are members of Sojourn Church Midtown in good standing.

Logistics
The cost of this trip is $3,250, which includes flights, transportation, lodging, food, and travel insurance. Participants will receive training and support to help them fundraise leading up to the trip.

Requirements
Prerequisites
- Must be a member of Sojourn Midtown in good standing
- Background Check (completed after approval)
- Passport- must be valid through at least 6mo after projected trip dates
- Sign Conduct & Liability Form
Restrictions
- Trip Level 201: Requires moderate physical activity like walking multiple miles per day and long travel hours. Open to adults and college students.
